Cheam Park Farm Primary Academy is a multicultural school with over 20 different languages represented in school. Twenty-five per cent of our pupils have English as an additional language (EAL).
Our school celebrates the different cultures and languages through displays and assemblies, as well as activities during International Week. Involvement from parents is encouraged throughout the year.
The needs of EAL children are carefully planned for in all subject areas and teachers ensure that lessons are well resourced with the use of visual prompts and word banks to support learning.
We have a wide selection of dual language books in our classrooms and children get the opportunity to take them home and share with their families through the Dual Language Book Project scheme which runs in the spring and summer terms.
We also have designated EAL teaching assistants working throughout the school to help supported children with their spoken and written English.
